TRANSLETTING ITALIA reopens tandem translation exchanges. Submit your work and get paired up with a tandem partner. Vo fajëis traduzions de tesć te n tandem. You translate their text and they translate yours. Vi traducete a vicenda.
How? Well, approximately like this:
Tandem partners translate each other‘s work, and can choose to do so in whichever creative mode best suits them. There is no requirement to speak (or have ‘mastered’) the other’s respective language, nor to translate within the borders of a respective genre. Partners may translate faithfully or freely, work homophonically or visually, explore etymology, or push beyond literature as a medium.
Send your poems, pamphlets, essayistic or dramatic outcomes by February 27th to transletting@outlook.com. Partner texts will be assigned until 1st of March. While there are no limitations in genre, please watch the length: texts should not exceed a reading time of ten minutes.
And then?
You will have at least two opportunities to present the translations in joint readings:
- Rome, end of March – for a workshop, get-together and reading from the process, you have the opportunity to join TRANSLETTING’s programme in Rome.
Brixen / Bressanone, end of September – in collaboration with ZeLT, readings of the translation will take place as part of ZeLTletico. You are welcome to join, discuss and read.
If you are unable to attend in person, there will also be opportunities to present your work virtually!
